Rosmah Brings Cheer To The Less Fortunate At Chinese New Year Luncheon
KUALA LUMPUR, March 8 (Bernama) -- The Prime Minister's wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor today attended a luncheon held in conjunction with 2017 Chinese New Year celebration at JW Marriot Hotel here.
The event organised by the Welfare Association of Wives of Ministers and Deputy Ministers (Bakti) and YTL Corporation Sdn Bhd was aimed at helping the less fortunate and fostering close ties.
Present at the event were Bakti members and more than 500 guests from 15 welfare centres and old folks homes around the Klang Valley.
Among the welfare homes involved were the Ampang Old Folks Home, Ti-Ratana Centre, Selangor Cheshire Home and Chempaka Buddhist Lodge.
Earlier during the event, Rosmah who is also Bakti president participated in tossing and mixing the Yee Sang which was the highlight of the celebration.
Rosmah later handed over cheques amounting to RM5,000 to each of the welfare organisation and gave 'ang pows' to the guests.
Meanwhile, Selangor Cheshire Home manager Shahida Musa expressed her heartfelt thanks to Bakti for their generous contribution.
"It is very difficult to get donations nowadays, so this contribution is of great help to support our efforts in helping the disabled residents at our home," she said.
Guests were also treated to performances by Permata Seni group and Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Jinjang school band.
