Kelantan Lad Makes It To Barcelona

KUALA LUMPUR, June 14 (Bernama) -- Rahmat Che Hashim from Malaysia will join another three players from South East Asia for a lifetime opportunity to train under Barcelona coach, Pep Guardiola at the club's famed youth academy, La Masia.

The 24-year-old from Pengkalan Chepa, Kelantan, together with Evan Dimeas (Indonesia), Napapon Sripratheep (Thailand) and Muhammad Faris Ramli (Singapore) are among the top 100 players from 55 countries who will undergo intense training and competition at the Spanish club in August.

The four players were chosen from The Chance Global Finals tournament, held in Jakarta, Indonesia, recently.

"The 20 youths from four countries within the region had earlier spent 72 hours as professional football players before a key match and assessed by a panel of elite coaches from around the region," said Nike Southeast Asia marketing manager, Sanjay Gangopadhyay.

He said The Chance is about giving young footballers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to live their dreams and be on the path to becoming professional football players.
