Community Leaders Have Important Role Of Explaining Development Brought By BN - Musa

SANDAKAN, June 10 (Bernama) -- Community leaders have an important role of explaining to residents in their areas the development that has been brought by the Barisan Nasional (BN) government.

Sabah Chief Minister and state BN chief, Datuk Seri Musa Aman said such a role was needed of them to counter the incitement and slander by the opposition against BN to garner public support.

He said the government had allocated huge sums of money to provide basic infrastructure and other facilities, besides implementing programmes such as the Bantuan Rakyat 1Malaysia, Kedai Rakyat 1Malaysia and abolishing school fees to lessen the people's financial burden.

"We as leaders, regardless at what level, need to clarify and explain these matters to the people and prove that the government has not been making empty promises," he said after visiting the Kampung Batu Puteh Umno operations room, here, today.

He was earlier asked to comment on oppositon party leaders and members going to the villages and using development and state issues to win public support.
