Noh Will Accept Invitation If Khalid Prepared To Drink Untreated Water From Dams

SHAH ALAM, May 25 (Bernama) -- Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Datuk Seri Noh Omar says he is willing to accept Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim's invitation for cabinet ministers to see for themselves the water levels in the state's dams.

However, Noh will only do so if Abdul Khalid is prepared to drink untreated water from the dams.

Recently, Abdul Khalid invited Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister Datuk Peter Chin Fah Kui and other Barisan Nasional (BN) leaders to the state's dams to prove that Selangor's water reserve is at a comfortable level.

Noh, who is also Selangor Umno deputy chief, said what the federal government had raised was on treated water reserve which was only at 2.4 per cent when it should be at 20 per cent, and not the raw water levels in the state's seven dams.

"Currently, there are 34 water treatment plants in Selangor which can provide 4.371 billion litres of water daily while the daily amount required is 4.322 billion litres.
