Eastern Region News May 23, 2012 18:03 PM Terengganu Rewards 31 Athletes, Officials For Excellent Performances KUALA TERENGGANU, May 23 (Bernama) -- The Terengganu state government rewarded 31 athletes and officials who excelled in their respective field with incentives amounting to RM164,300. Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Said said 19 players and officials of the victorious sepak takraw team that won the Khir Johari Gold Cup 2012 after 49 years by defeating Selangor 2-0 would receive RM95,000. "I am pleased with the performances of Terengganu athletes who continue to excel at national and international level competitions. The latest was winning the Khir Johari Gold Cup, a prestigious event in the country," he told reporters after chairing a state exco meeting here Wednesday. Each player and official would receive RM5,000. Also on the list of recipients were four Terengganu players who were part of the men's junior hockey team that won the Asia Junior Cup after beating Pakistan 2-1 in the final. -- BERNAMA
