Myanmar National Jailed For Setting Fire To Employer's House

PETALING JAYA, May 16 (Bernama) -- A Myanmar national was sentenced to three months' jail by the Magistrate's Court here Wednesday for setting fire to one of the rooms in his employer's house last month.

Magistrate Ahmad Solihin Abd Wahid handed down the sentence on Si Zin, 27, who pleaded guilty to the charge, to be served from the date of arrest on April 30.

Si Zin was charged with committing the offence at a house belonging to Lahundi Latani, 31, at No 11, USJ 1/11, Subang Jaya, at 3am last April 29.

The charge, under Section 427 of the Penal Code, carries a maximum imprisonment for two years or fine or both, if found guilty.

According to the facts of the case, Si Zin went to the house, used by his employer as a workers' quarters, to demand for his salary and went berserk, including breaking down the house door and setting fire to a room in the house, when he could not get the payment.
