Northern Region News February 29, 2008 22:56 PM Robotics And Automation Industrial Park In Meru To Create 6,000 Jobs IPOH, Feb 29 (Bernama) -- The Robotics and Industrial Automation Industrial Park (RAIA) in Meru will create 6,000 professional jobs in the technical and engineering fields when it is fully completed in 2013. The park is being developed on a 3,350-acre land in Meru near here and it will be a comprehensive industrial high-tech park to meet the needs of businesses, industries, government agencies, and other high tech parks and centres in Perak. Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Tajol Rosli Ghazali said RAIA will serve as the catalyst for the states economic development and would contribute positively to its need for investments. "It will provide a safe and exciting environment for investors in all related industries and it will be the platform to promote partnership and transfer of technology," he told reporters after witnessing the exchange of agreements between RAIA Park Corporation Bhd and 10 investors at the Perak techno Trade Centre here, today. At least 30 companies with a total investment of RM2 billion will participate in the park which will take on an integrated development approach, focusing on promoting niche industries. Among the industries involved are advanced electronics, mechanical electronics, telecommunication, ICT, Nanotechnology and creative content productions with the emphasis on innovation and R&D. RAIA will promote industrial automation and robotics from automated manufacturing to engineering services, from systems design to systems integration, from software development to hardware implementation, from basic to applied research, from technology absorption to technology re-engineering, and from technology transfer to technology commercialisation. The park is expected to accelerate the growth of manufacturing and increase value creation and productivity. It will also invite foreign and local investors to invest in manufacturing activities in RAIA. -- BERNAMA
