Majimor Heads Penang Honours' List

PENANG, July 14 (Bernama) -- Toh Puan Majimor Shariff leads the list of 1,271 recipients of Penang state titles and awards in conjunction with Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Abdul Rahman Abbas' 69th birthday celebrations Saturday.

Majimor, 65, who is the wife of the Penang Yang Dipertua Negeri will be conferred the Darjah Utama Pangkuan Negeri (DUPN) which carries the title Datuk Seri Utama.

Nine people will be bestowed with Darjah Gemilang Pangkuan Negeri (DGPN) which carries the title Datuk Seri while another nine will receive the Darjah Yang Mulia Pangkuan Negeri (DMPM) and 73 Darjah Setia Pangkuan Negeri (DSPN), both carry the title Datuk, and 63 the Darjah Johan Negeri (DJN).

Eighteen people will receive Bintang Cemerlang Negeri (BCN) awards, Pingat Kelakuan Terpuji (PKT) (216), Pingat Jasa Kebaktian (PJK) (440), Pingat Jasa Masyarakat (PJM) (415) and Pingat Bakti Setia (PBS) (27).

Federal Territories Minister Datuk Zulhasnan Rafique heads the DGPN recipients' list followed by The New Straits Times Press (Malaysia) Bhd (NSTP) Deputy Chairman Datuk Kalimullah Masheerul Hassan, Mini-Circuits Technologies Chairman and President Datuk Kelvin Kiew Kwong Sen.

Others who will be bestowed DGPN are Penang State Assembly Speaker Datuk Yahaya Abdul Hamid, Penang Barisan Nasional (BN) Treasurer-General Datuk Cheah Eu Kiat, Universiti Malaya Pro Chancellor Toh Puan Dr Aishah Ong and GAMA Holdings Sdn Bhd chairman Datuk Eric Lim Ewe Chye.

Other recipients are Yayasan Pendidikan Wawasan Board of Directors chairman Datuk Stephen Yeap Leong Huat and Chief of Army Jeneral Tan Sri Muhammad Ismail Jamaluddin.

Nine people who will be conferred DMPN are Penang Police Chief Datuk Koh Hong Sun, Ipoh High Court judge Datuk Abdul Kadir Musa, social activist Datin Seri Ang Gaik Nga, Penang Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry adviser Datuk Choot Ewe Seng, legal expert Ho Mooi Ching, medical specialist Prof Dr Liew Choong Chin, Bayan Baru Umno Division head Datuk Zain Omar, Child Court advisory panel member Puan Sri Raihanatul Habshiah Ibrahim Akiby and Yusuf Taiyoob Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Datuk Yusuf Taiyoob.

The investiture will be held at Dewan Sri Pinang in stages beginning Saturday.

The DSPN will be conferred to 73 recipients who include Malaysia Venture Capital Management Bhd director Abdul Wahab Abdullah, Penang Umno Youth chief Mohd Salim Abd Bari, Amanah Raya Berhad chief integrity officer Abu Kassim Mohamed, UDA Holdings Bhd managing director Jaafar Abu Hassan, Yayasan Budi Penyayang Malaysia chief executive officer Leela Mohd Ali and Komtar assemblyman Lim Gim Soon.

Other recipients are Advanced MicroDevices (AMD) managing director Mohd Sofi Osman, Penang Veterinary Services director Dr Mohd Zairi Serlan, Education Ministry School Division director Noor Rezan Bapoo Hashim and Selangor Deputy Police Chief SAC I Mohd Noh Kandah.

The DSPN will also be conferred to Bukit Aman Special Branch deputy director DCP Othman Ali, UEM Builders Berhad managing director Ridza Abdoh Salleh, Malaysia High Commissioner to South Africa Yahaya Abdul Jabar and Penang Municipal Council president Datuk Zainal Rahim Seman.

Penang Puteri Umno chief Azlina Mehtab Mohd Ishaq, Kepala Batas Umno Division Wanita chief Zabariah Wahab are among recipients of DJN while Seberang Perai Tengah Police District Chief ACP Mohamad Anil Shah Abdullah will be among 18 BCN recipients.

Two reporters from the NSTP group, Audrey Mellani Dermawan and Mohd Anwar Patho Rohman will be awarded PJM.
