Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz To Be Proclaimed UUM Pro-chancellor On Sept 18
ALOR SETAR, Sept 13 (Bernama) -- A member of the Kedah Council of Regency, Datuk Seri DiRaja Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah will be proclaimed pro-chancellor of Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) on Sept 18 in conjunction with the university's 25th convocation.
Well-known corporate figure, MK Land executive chairman Tan Sri Mustapha Kamal will, meanwhile, be conferred an honorary doctorate in Sustainable Real Estate Development and two others to be made Professor Emeritus.
The proclamation and conferment will be made by Yang diPertuan Agong, Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah at a special session at UUM on that day.
UUM vice-chancellor, Prof Datuk Dr Mohamed Mustafa Ishak said with Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz's appointment, the university would have three pro-chancellors. The other two are Tun Ahmad Fairuz Sheikh Abdul Halim and Tan Sri Dr Abdul Hamid Pawanteh.
"The appointment of Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz, who is also Tunku Panglima Besar Kedah is historic for UUM as she is the first woman to be appointed as a pro-chancellor of the university," he told a press conference, here, Thursday.
