Court Sends Three Indonesians To Jail For Armed Robbery
KUALA TERENGGANU, May 30 (Bernama) - Three Indonesians were sentenced to seven years' jail and five strokes by the Sessions Court here after they pleaded guilty to a charge of armed robbery.
Mawardi Dimak, 29, was charged with committing robbery with Sahrun, 25, and Hamdi Keson, 24, in an unnumbered house in Kampung Bukit Tanah, Kampung Raja, Besut at 2am on May 8.
Judge Wan Fadhilah Nor Wan Idris ordered sentence to start from the date of arrest (May 8) at Seri Alam oil palm plantation in Kampung Bukit Jeruk, Kampung Raja, Besut.
The three contract workers had broken into the house of Mohamad Shafie, 46, put a parang on the victim and his wife's neck and threatened to burn the house before escaping with jewellery and cash worth RM8,000.
The prosecution was conducted by Deputy Public Prosecutor Zulfazliah Mahmud while the three accused were unrepresented.
