More Mini Offices In Orang Asli Settlements - Muhammad Olian
BERA, Jan 11 (Bernama) -- More mini offices in Orang Asli settlements will be established, especially in rural areas to facilitate the community in channelling information and problems concerning the Orang Asli.
Senator Muhammad Olian Abdullah said that with such an office, it was easier for Orang Asli Development Department (JKOA) officers to listen to Orang Asli problems and resolve them quickly.
He said at least two or three officers will be deployed at each of the offices.
"So far, JKOA had established such offices in Pos Belatin, Pos Bihar, Pos Balar, Pos Tendik and Pos Brook which have a number of officers," he said at an Orang Asli gathering in Pos Iskandar Bera, here yesterday.
He said JKOA had received many complaints from the community who had to rent a four-wheel-drive to the city to channel their problems and what irked them even more was when the officers were not in the office.
The situation, he said, would create a rift in the relationship between the Orang Asli and the JKOA which would enable certain quarters take advantage to spread their propaganda to the Orang Asli.
Muhammad Olian said several villages had been identified for the setting up of the mini office in Lipis and Temerloh districts in Pahang.
